Responsible AI for high school students means using tools to support thinking while the student remains accountable for verification, disclosure, and the final work. Parents set household rules and oversight. Students practice judgment. Together you choose programs that publish requirements, not only marketing claims.

Start with a short written agreement: when AI may help, what must be disclosed, and which data never enters public tools.
School policies differ. Read the syllabus and any AI use statement from teachers before defaults form at home. Align household rules with the strictest requirement the student faces that term.
For parents: Ask counselors or teachers how plagiarism is defined when AI is involved, and whether disclosure is required on every assignment.
For students: If the assignment is silent on AI, ask before you use it. Ambiguity is not permission.

Common questions
Is Applied AI a coding class?
Not primarily. The focus is responsible AI use, structured prompting, verification, and portfolio deliverables. Prior programming experience is not required.
Will AI help students cheat?
Programs that reward judgment and evidence reduce that risk. PMGuru Learn assignments require verification, disclosure, and work the student can defend. Copying without understanding does not meet rubric standards.
How do parents stay informed?
Families receive orientation information, progress visibility through the parent experience, invitation to the final presentation, and a completion summary when requirements are met.
